The North Dakota Hospitality Association is the unified voice of bars, restaurants, hotels, and motels across our state. We exist for one reason: to make sure your business survives, thrives, and has a seat at the table when decisions are made that affect you. We fight overregulation. We support legislation that strengthens our industry. We work directly with local, state, and national officials to protect the business climate you depend on. And we bring members together through events, trade shows, and annual gatherings so you can learn, connect, and grow. North Dakota’s hospitality industry is the backbone of our communities. We’re here to make sure lawmakers, regulators, and the public know it.

I'm Terry Effertz, the new Executive Director for NDHA. My background is in law and government affairs. I'm a UND law school graduate, I run my own firm, Effertz Law, and I serve as Special Assistant City Attorney for Legislative Affairs for the City of Fargo. I also lead TechND, North Dakota's technology trade association, through my firm, Effertz Executive Search and Management (ESM). NDHA came to ESM as a new association we took on this year, and I stepped in as director because I love this kind of work: representing an industry, building relationships with members, and translating policy into something that actually helps people run their businesses. My role is part advocacy, part event planning, and part member support. That means tracking legislation that affects hospitality businesses in North Dakota, building relationships with lawmakers and regulators on members' behalf, and making sure NDHA's events (like our Annual Golf Scramble) run smoothly and bring real value to the people who show up. Outside of work, I'm a fan of a good dive bar with a friendly bartender. There's nothing better than good conversation over a cold drink. One project I'm genuinely excited about is building on the momentum from this year's Golf Scramble. It was a great event, and I want to keep growing it (and NDHA's other member events) into something people look forward to every year. One thing I'd want members to know about me: I like to tell a good story, and I don't take myself too seriously. If we're at an event together, don't be surprised if I've got a story to tell, or if I'm just as interested in hearing yours. |

Hi, I'm Amanda Bauer, and I'm excited to introduce myself as NDHA's new Director of Community Engagement & Member Services. I bring 16 years of experience from Delta Vacations, where I worked in groups and weddings, along with time at Minot Plumbing & Heating, Steen Construction, and managing a property management company in the U.S. Virgin Islands. I've known Terry for over half my life. We worked together years ago at Delta Vacations (then MLT Vacations), and I couldn't be more excited to be working alongside her again. I'd describe myself as calm, kind, and nurturing, and paired with my background in hospitality and service-based industries, this role feels like a natural fit. Outside of work, I love spending time with my husband, our teenage son, and our two dogs, Millie and Moose. We also enjoy gardening, biking, and relaxing at the lake together as a family. My family is also in our twelfth year of billeting junior hockey players, and it's been incredible watching that family grow over the years. Some of "our" hockey kids have gone on to play college hockey, and a few have since graduated, gotten married, and started families of their own. I'm looking forward to growing NDHA's membership and getting to know this organization inside and out. I played golf in high school and have helped run tournaments before, so I'm especially excited to help with NDHA's annual golf tournament this year. A little more about me: I'm competitive, especially when board games are involved, so consider yourself warned if we ever end up at the same table. I also love to travel with friends and family, and I can't wait to meet many of you at NDHA events in the months ahead. |
